Ballo in Bianco in Piazza San Carlo

Ballo in Bianco in Piazza San Carlo, where Scuola Leonardo da Vinci is at home!

If you want to find out what the Ballo in Bianco is, what happens in Piazza San Carlo, what the main reasons for choosing Scuola Leonardo da Vinci are and why choose Turin to study Italian, you absolutely must read this article.

Those who study Italian in Turin soon discover that the city is not only history, museums and elegant cafés. It is also a lively, very dynamic city, capable of transforming its most iconic locations into the backdrop of spectacular events.

On 7 June, 2026, the splendid Piazza San Carlo, where the Turin headquarters of Scuola Leonardo da Vinci are located, was tuned into an open-air stage to host the famous Ballo in Bianco, the event directed by Roberto Bolle, the famous dancer at the Teatro La Scala in Milan, who was born in Piedmont.

For the first time Turin welcomed this event: over 2000 young ballet dancers dressed in white participated in the largest collective dance class in the world, creating an evocative image that caught the attention of the media and the public alike.

Where tourists and the Turinese normally stroll, there were orderly rows of students ready to dance in synchrony. The outcome was a show of great visual impact.

Spoiler: our classrooms overlook this square! How wonderful!

ADVICE: If you love dance you cannot miss events such as the Debutantes’ Ball at the Venaria Reale palace in November and on 27 and 28 June, Vignale in danza, a festival devoted to this artistic discipline since 1978, on the hills of Monferrato, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, just over an hour from Turin!
