The Garden of Wonders above Florence

In Florence, very close to the beautiful Basilica of San Miniato al Monte, above Piazzale Michelangelo, from which you can enjoy a splendid view over the city there is a very special garden: The Garden of Wonders, and never has a name been so appropriate to define it.
It is a private garden of about 3,000 square meters, which can be visited by appointment.

We visited in February with Elena Fulceri, a native Florentine guide, with a genuine passion for sharing treasures that are hiding above your eye line.

In the Garden of Wonders, we saw flowers of all kinds, plants, paths, artistic fountains, large vases and colored balls that arrived here from who knows where, small corners with old recycled objects, colored lights, some extravagant hen, environments that invite you to retreat there for moments of reflection, and never one equal to the other. What fantastic creativity!

Alice Esclapon de Villeneuve, the owner and creator of such great wonder, says: "I reused objects and things that languished lazily in some ravine waiting for a new life and invented figures that change over the seasons like thoughts". And just like thoughts, so strictly personal, walking through this enchanted and enchanting place, everyone can find that message "tailor-made" for him, and feel enveloped in a kind of magical spell!

A truly enriching visit that in a certain sense makes us feel a bit like Alice in Wonderland, a country known only in fairy tales but which here becomes reality!
