Shakespeare in Rome

A Globe theatre but this time not on the river Thames! Words of the Bard but not in England and not in English! As strange as it can sound - yes it is true! In the famous central park of Rome, Villa Borghese, you will find a Globe, similar to the one in London.

Precisely there, every summer since 2005, the best of Shakespeare’s comedies and tragedies have been represented.

For an Italian audience it has been translated in Italian according to an ancient tradition of classical theatre translation method. If you don’t mind standing - it will only cost you 10 euros.

On this years’ program “Sogno di una notte di mezza estate” (A Midsummer night’s dream), “La commedia degli errori” (The comedy of errors), “Re Lear” (King Lear) and “il mercante di Venezia” (The Merchant of Venice).
