The blog of the Italian language schools Leonardo da Vinci is proud to publish some articles made by our teachers or students about the cities where we are located. This time we talk about Milan and its secrets.
“Spazio Oberdan” is located in viale Vittorio Veneto n° 2, just few steps from subway station of Porta Venezia, central Milan area. This is one of the most renomated foundations which promotes a different cultural events. It is composed of an exposition area where is possible to see photography exhibitions, and a cinema hall where the best films of all times are shown. A grate option to a numerous multi hall cinemas present in Milan.
Spazio Oberdan gives the unique possibility to discover and approach those movies that made the history of a big screen and directors of indisputable fame such as: Pier Paolo Pasolini, Werner Herzog, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, but also less known names that are still to discover.
In the month of June, there has been a presentation of movies of Billy Wilder that everyone remembers for his cult film from late fifties “Some like it Hot”, with Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis and the unforgettable participation of Marylin Monroe.
Another significant film review was the one dedicated to Abdellatif Kechiche, a contemporary young director borne in Tunisia. He made three full length movies, most famous is Cous Cous that was presented on 2007 and rewarded at Venice film festival.
Very interested event was also the one entitled Masterpieces of expressionism, during which the spectators could see a numerous mute films from the late twenties such as: Faust directed by Murnau or The Pandora’s vase directed by Pabst. All films were accompanied by live piano musicians.

Lo spazio Oberdan si trova in viale Vittorio Veneto 2, a due passi dalla metropolitana di Porta Venezia. È una fondazione che promuove iniziative culturali. Comprende un’area espositiva dove si possono vedere mostre fotografiche ed una sala cinematografica in cui vengono proiettati i migliori film di tutti i tempi. Un’ottima alternativa ai vari multisala esistenti a Milano, per chi non amasse il cinema ideato per il grande pubblico, quello senza contenuti e zeppo di effetti speciali, creato per gonfiare i portafogli con incassi vertiginosi. Lo spazio Oberdan offre la possibilità di scoprire o riscoprire chi ha fatto la storia del grande schermo: registi dalla fama indiscutibile, come Pier Paolo Pasolini, Werner Herzog o Rainer Werner Fassbinder, ma anche nomi più ignoti da conoscere.
Lo scorso mese, in programmazione, c’era una rassegna su Billy Wilder, che tutti ricordano per A qualcuno piace caldo, cult fine anni cinquanta con Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis e la memorabile partecipazione di Marylin Monroe. Altra rassegna significativa è stata quella su Abdellatif Kechiche, regista contemporaneo nato a Tunisi, realizzatore di tre lungometraggi tra cui il celebre Cous Cous, uscito nel 2007 e premiato all’ultima mostra del cinema di Venezia. Interessantissima pure l’iniziativa intitolata Capolavori dell’espressionismo, dove si poteva assistere alla visione di muti tedeschi degli anni venti ( Faust di Murnau e Il vaso di Pandora di Pabst) con un accompagnamento dal vivo al pianoforte.
