Today, April 22nd, is World Earth Day: an important reminder of our collective responsibility to protect and preserve the only home we have — our planet. Established in 1970, Earth Day has since evolved into a global movement, bringing attention to environmental issues and inspiring individuals and communities worldwide to take action.

Today, take a moment to consider the beauty and diversity of the planet we call home — the lush forests, pristine oceans, majestic mountains, and vibrant ecosystems. Our well-being is deeply tied to the health of these ecosystems, as they provide us with essential resources and services, including clean air, water, and food.
This year, as we commemorate Earth Day, we’d like to share with you 5 of the best green areas in Milan, which play a crucial role in our big city!
1) Parco Sempione
Nestled in the heart of Milan and right behind the Sforza castle, Parco Sempione is an oasis of greenery and serenity. Spanning over 47 acres, this historic park was originally built as the private hunting ground of the powerful Sforza family, and offers today a picturesque landscape of green lawns, lush trees, and tranquil ponds. Visitors can stroll along tree-lined paths, admire the iconic Arco della Pace, and relax amidst the lush vegetation.
2) Giardini Indro Montanelli
Located adjacent to the bustling Corso Buenos Aires and its many shops, Giardini Indro Montanelli is a peaceful retreat in the heart of Milan's Porta Venezia district. This charming park offers a blend of natural and architectural beauty: visitors can explore its pathways while enjoying views of historic monuments and sculptures scattered throughout the park, like the Natural History Museum or the Modern Art Gallery.

Pro tip: visit it in May to admire the colorful and instagrammable flower beds!
